Main principles of an expert laboratory organization

Laboratory equipment ensures support for all basic audio forensic tasks:

  • Lab core - Server of the VoiceNet System or file server (if there is no voice database) for storage and registration of the incoming data.
  • Experts’ working places are created upon quantity and types of the handled tasks (identification, diagnostics, input and storage of signals).
  • All the work places have network access to the file server.

Typical forensic laboratory equipment set

Voice Net system server or fileserver (if there is no voice database) for storage and registration of the incoming data.

AWP - Automated working places for experts:

  • Working place N1 - for signal input and authenticity analysis.
  • Working place N2 - for identification analysis.
  • Working place N3 - for noise suppression and text enhancement.

Automated working places:

  • Working place N1 for visual examination and capturing of the image of the investigated objects, for input and authenticity analysis of the audio evidence:
    • SIS module EdiTracker.
    • Measuring input/output device STC-H246.
    • Players for various mediums.
    • Digital camera.
  • Working place N2 for identification analysis:
    • SIS.

  • Working place N3 for noise suppression and text enhancement of the low quality voice recordings:
    • SIS.
    • Sound Cleaner.Transcriber Ceaser.
    • Measuring input/output device STC-H246.

Each working place must be equipped by the audio players:

  • Table active acoustic displays.
  • High quality dynamic microphone.

Additional equipment:

  • Local area network equipment,
  • Equipment for expert report hard copy production (local network laser printer),
